Written historical sources mention Castle Costanza, called today Villa Costanza, as early as 1077, when the nobleman Rodolfo di Guinzo acquired part of the castle. Considering the strategic importance of its position, the rights of the castle were divided between 16 different owners. Around the mid 1400’s, the castle, as well as most of the Chianti area was annexed to the dominion of the Ricasoli family.
News of raids and devastation, but also a deep passion for the ancient practice of wine-growing, can be noted in the sorrowful letters written by Andrea Ricasoli in 1529, during the bloody conflict between Siena and Florence: ...perhaps fifty Sienese came to my dwelling in Chianti called la Leccia where…..they burnt all that was in the place….and 200 barrels of wine in the cellars were all spilled….
During the XVIII Century, the Castel, in whose hamlet around 70 people resided, began to take on the appearance of a villa due to the modification of part of the structure. In 1920, the entire property was bought by our Great Grandfather Giuliano Daddi and in the course of the second world war, in July 1944, the hamlet, occupied at the time by German troops, was heavily bombed and ultimately part of the tower, the last testament to its medieval structure, was partially destroyed as well as a wing of the 1700’s villa.
After more than four years of careful and conscientious restoration of the Castle and its surrounding gardens, that from 1920 has been a haven and refuge for our family, our estate has once more been filled with life and shines in new splendor.

Today thanks to the precious input of the Architect Alessandro Loni Coppedè, the Villa has rised again in a rennovated eco-friendly materials and elengant style and techniques, faithfully reconstructing , with the aid of old family photographs, the noble stair way of the 1700’s villa, irrevocably destroyed by the bombings of July 1944, which our father witnessed firsthand.
We love this place with all our hearts, we nurture the land and pay meticulous care to the upkeep of our olive groves and vineyards and with great passion we have breathed life and light into this, our home.

The Villa has twelve bedrooms of three different categories, ranging from 21 to 55 sqm in size, that all enjoy splendid views over the surrounding countryside. Elegantly furnished, the rooms have been designed to render your stay intimate and comfortable. Wooden floors, beamed ceilings, pastel colors, precious fabrics and furniture chosen exclusively for these rooms and designed for us by a Florentine artisan create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. The original sketches by our Great Grandfather, Ugo Giovannozzi, engineer and Florentine architect of the early 1900’,evoke magnificent memories of the past.
